Giving Back

At Adventure Bats, we're passionate about exploring and providing our guests with the most authentic experiences possible.  We believe that education and animal conservation are priorities.  The path to a better world is filled with knowledge and a healthy environment.  With this in mind we have begun to sponsor the education of children in Arusha.  As of right now we are sponsoring two.  We have also launched programs that will give underpriveledged kids the opportunity to go on safari and learn about the animals that live near them and why their conservation is so important. A portion of all tours booked go towards our charitable causes.

Abdul's Education

Abdul is an twelve-year-old boy from the neighborhood where our Sanawari property, Mama Aziz Homestay, is located.  Abdul has autism and the government schools don't have the resources to give him the care that he needs.  We found a school called Jaffrey Academy that has a superb special needs program with small classes with students placed by needs over age.  Abdul has been thriving in his new school and has even qualified for the National Swimming Competition.  We are currently raising funds to cover the 2025/2026 school year (tuition, transportation, uniform).

We are $635 USD from our goal.

Noella's Education

Noela is the daughter of Jimmy, our main guide for tours in Tengeru.  Jimmy wanted to get his daughter a better education than what she was being provided by the government, but he doesn't have the finances to do so yet.  So we offered to help.  Noela is now attending a semi-private school with more resources.  She is in Grade three and when she's not singing and dancing, she likes to read and do math.  We are currently raising funds to cover the 2025/2026 school year.

We are $515 USD from our goal.

My First Safari

One of the saddest things that we hear from so many children in Arusha is that they have only seen local wildlife on TV even though their hometown is surrounded by national parks.  Not only is it heartbreaking that thousands of visitors will see parts of their country that they may never get to experience, but it's hard to expect them to have a passion for conservation when the wild is so foreign to them.  We decided to start a program that gives these children the opportunity to go see the amazing wildlife Tanzania has to offer firsthand by taking them on safari in Arusha National Park ourselves and giving them the opportunity to see their favorite animals and understand the wonders of their country and why they need conserving.

We are $360 from our goal of taking 20 children.

We are $410 from our goal of taking 25 children.

If you are interested in sponsoring a bus and accompanying the children as a chaperone, this is possible, and the rate would depend on the amount of children and your citizenship or residence.

For a non-resident of Tanzania to sponsor a bus of 20 students and accompany them as a chaperone the cost would be $435 and includes transport, entry fees, and lunch.

Furthering Education at the Giraffe Center

We are teaming up with the Arusha Giraffe Center to help them with their goal of bringing every child in the region to the center to learn about sustainable farming and giraffe conservation.  The Giraffe Center aims to lead by example and show locals in the area how to grow crops in a diversified natural environment to help protect the soil and return the Maasai Steppe into the lush pastures it once was for animals and man before traditional farming destroyed its biodiversity. This project will teach the future farmers how to grow crops with a better chance of a yeild, provide the necessary nutrition for their livestock, and welcome wildlife that has abandoned the area due to lack food.  The students will pe provided a booklet and lunch on this trip. The lesson can be done in Swahili or English and is open to all students.

We are $380 from taking 25 students from a goverment school.

We are $670 from taking 45 students from a goverment school.

If you are interested in sponsoring a trip and accompanying the children as a chaperone this is possible and the rate would depend on the amount of children.
