All journeys include transportation, lodging, park and entry fees, meals and water, and an experienced English-speaking guide. Tours can be private or open for others to join to get a better rate. Groups must be staying in the same area to be combined.
Mt. Meru is the second largest mountain in Tanzania and is only overshadowed by Kilimanjaro. It is a dormant stratovolcano that currently stands at 4,562.13 meters (14,968 ft), but was once much higher, losing most of its height during an eruption about 8,000 years ago. It last had a minor eruption in 1910. its lavas are alkaline in character and contain nephelinite, similar to Ol Doinyo Lengai. Mt. Meru lies in Arusha National Park and is accessible through the Momella Gate. The fertile slopes of the volcano host a forest with a diversity wildlife like monkeys, leopards, and hundreds of species of birds. It is considered a difficult climb and can be summitted and descended in three to four days. Three days should only be attempted by experienced hikers in peak shape.

On this journey, you will begin your first day by doing a game drive in Tarangire National Park, famous for its large elephant and lion populations and abundance of baobab trees. Then you will spend the night in either Tarangire or Karatu, which is just outside of Ngorongoro National Park. The following morning after breakfast, you will drive to Lake Eyasi to visit a Hadzabe village and learn about their culture, way of life, and how they hunt and do ironwork. You will spend that evening in Karatu. The next morning, you will enter the Ngorongoro Crater and witness the amazing wildlife that it is home to. Then in the late afternoon, you will head back to Karatu to rest. That evening you will head to the active volcano Ol Doinyo Lengai, which is Maasai for the "Mountain of God", to hike to its summit for sunrise. Then after reaching the base you will head back to your residence in Arusha.
